Based on the downscaling temperature result data in the historical period of CMIP5 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5), the future multi-year average temperature in the three periods of 2011-2040, 2041-2070, and 2071-2100 was predicted. Under the scenarios of rcp2.6, rcp4.5, and rcp8.5, the method of combining ordinary least squares regression with HASM (High Accuracy Surface Modeling Method) was used to downscaling simulate and predict, and the 1km downscaling results of the multi-year average temperature in the three scenarios of 2011-2040, 2041-2070 and 2071-2100 were obtained.

This dataset contains the flux measurements from site No.14 eddy covariance system (EC) in the flux observation matrix from 30 May to 21 September, 2012. The site (100.35310° E, 38.85867° N) was located in a cropland (maize surface) in Yingke irrigation district, which is near Zhangye, Gansu Province. The elevation is 1570.23 m. The EC was installed at a height of 4.6 m; the sampling rate was 10 Hz. The sonic anemometer faced north, and the separation distance between the sonic anemometer and the CO2/H2O gas analyzer (CSAT3&Li7500) was 0.15 m. Raw data acquired at 10 Hz were processed using the Edire post-processing software (University of Edinburgh, http://www.geos.ed.ac.uk/abs/research/micromet/EdiRe/), including spike detection, lag correction of H2O/CO2 relative to the vertical wind component, sonic virtual temperature correction, coordinate rotation (2-D rotation), corrections for density fluctuation (Webb-Pearman-Leuning correction), and frequency response correction. The EC data were subsequently averaged over 30 min periods. Moreover, the observation data quality was divided into three classes according to the quality assessment method of stationarity (Δst) and the integral turbulent characteristics test (ITC), which was proposed by Foken and Wichura [1996]: class 1 (level 0: Δst<30 and ITC<30), class 2 (level 1: Δst<100 and ITC<100), and class 3 (level 2: Δst>100 and ITC>100), representing high-, medium-, and low-quality data, respectively. In addition to the above processing steps, the half-hourly flux data were screened in a four-step procedure: (1) data from periods of sensor malfunction were rejected; (2) data before or after 1 h of precipitation were rejected; (3) incomplete 30 min data were rejected when the missing data constituted more than 3% of the 30 min raw record; and (4) data were rejected at night when the friction velocity (u*) was less than 0.1 m/s. There were 48 records per day; the missing data were replaced with -6999. Moreover, suspicious data were marked in red. The released data contained the following variables: data/time, wind direction (Wdir, °), wind speed (Wnd, m/s), the standard deviation of the lateral wind (Std_Uy, m/s), virtual temperature (Tv, ℃), H2O mass density (H2O, g/m^3), CO2 mass density (CO2, mg/m^3), friction velocity (ustar, m/s), stability (z/L), sensible heat flux (Hs, W/m^2), latent heat flux (LE, W/m^2), carbon dioxide flux (Fc, mg/ (m^2s)), quality assessment of the sensible heat flux (QA_Hs), quality assessment of the latent heat flux (QA_LE), and quality assessment of the carbon flux (QA_Fc). In this dataset, the time of 0:30 corresponds to the average data for the period between 0:00 and 0:30; the data were stored in *.xlsx format. For more information, please refer to Liu et al. The output data of the distributed eco-hydrological model (GBEHM) of the upper reaches of the black river include the spatial distribution data series of 1-km grid. Region: upper reaches of heihe river (yingxiaoxia), time resolution: month scale, spatial resolution: 1km, time period: 2000-2012. The data include evapotranspiration, runoff depth and soil volumetric water content (0-100cm). All data is in ASCII format. See basan.asc file in the reference directory for the basin space range. The projection parameter of the model result is Sphere_ARC_INFO_Lambert_Azimuthal_Equal_Area.

The first dataset of ground truth measurements synchronizing with TerraSAR-X was obtained in the Daman foci experimental area on 4 June, 2012. The satellite image was in StripMap mode and HH/VV polarization with an incidence angle of 22-24°, and the overpass time was approximately at 19:00 UTC+8. The second dataset of ground truth measurements synchronizing with TerraSAR-X was obtained in the Daman foci experimental area on 15 June, 2012. The satellite image was in StripMap mode and HH/VV polarization with an incidence angle of 22-24°, and the overpass time was approximately at 19:00 UTC+8. The third dataset of ground truth measurements synchronizing with TerraSAR-X was obtained in the Daman foci experimental area on 26 June, 2012. The satellite image was in StripMap mode and HH/VV polarization with an incidence angle of 22-24°, and the overpass time was approximately at 19:00 UTC+8. The measurements were conducted at a sampling plot southeast to the Daman Superstation with an area of around 100 m × 100 m, which was dominantly planted with maize. Steven Hydro probes were used to collect soil moisture and other measurements with an interval of 5 m. For each sampling point, two measurements were acquired within an area of 1 m2, with one for the soil covered by plastic film (point name was tagged as LXPXXA) and the other for exposed soil (point name was tagged as LXPXXB). Concurrently with soil moisture sampling, vegetation properties were measured at around 10 locations within this sampling plot. Observation items included: Soil parameters: volumetric soil moisture (inherently converted from measured soil dielectric constant), soil temperature, soil dielectric constant, soil electric conductivity. Vegetation parameters: biomass, LAI, vegetation water content, canopy height, row distance and leaf chlorophyll content. Data and data format: This dataset includes two parts of measurements, i.e. soil and vegetation parameters. The former is as shapefile, with measured items stored in its attribute table. The measured vegetation parameters are recorded in an Excel file.

The dataset of LST (land surface temperature) observed by the thermal camera (ThermaCAM SC2000 and ThermaCAM S60) at 24°×18° was obtained in the Yingke oasis, Huazhaizi desert steppe and Linze grassland foci experimental areas on May 20, 24,28 and 30, Jun. 1, 4, 16 and 29, Jul. 7, 8 and 11, 2008. Meanwhile, the optical photos were acquired in Yingke oasis maize field, Huazhaizi desert No. 1 and 2 plots, Huazhaizi desert maize field and Linze grassland. The dataset of ground truth measurement was synchronizing with WiDAS (Wide-angle Infrared Dual-mode line/area Array Scanner), OMIS-II, Landsat TM and ASTER.

The 2008 national remote sensing annual average surface temperature and freezing index is a 5 km instantaneous surface temperature data product based on MODIS Aqua/Terra four times a day by Ran Youhua et al. (2015). A new method for estimating the annual average surface temperature and freezing index has been developed. The method uses the average daily mean surface temperature observed by LST in morning and afternoon to obtain the daily mean surface temperature. The core of the method is how to recover the missing data of LST products. The method has two characteristics: (1) Spatial interpolation is carried out on the daily surface temperature variation observed by remote sensing, and the spatial continuous daily surface temperature variation obtained by interpolation is utilized, so that satellite observation data which is only once a day is applied; (2) A new time series filtering method for missing data is used, that is, the penalty least squares regression method based on discrete cosine transform. Verification shows that the accuracy of annual mean surface temperature and freezing index is only related to the accuracy of original MODIS LST, i.e. the accuracy of MODIS LST products is maintained. It can be used for frozen soil mapping and related resources and environment applications.

This data set contains the element content data of a deep drilled formation near the open sea in the middle reaches of Heihe River. The borehole is located at 99.432 E and 39.463 n with a depth of 550m. The element scanning analysis was carried out at 1-3cm intervals for the drilled strata. The scanning was completed in the Key Laboratory of Western Ministry of environmental education, Lanzhou University, and 38705 effective element data were obtained.

The dataset of ground truth measurement synchronizing with MODIS was obtained in the Linze grassland foci experimental area on Jun. 22, 2008. Simultaneous east-west ground measurements on the canopy temperature, the half-height temperature and the land surface radiative temperature were carried out by the hand-held infrared thermometer at intervals of 125m in 8 quadrates (2km×2km), No.1 quadrate (H01-H08) on Jun. 22, No.2 quadrate (H09-H16) on Jun. 23,No.3 quadrate (H17-H24) on Jun. 22, No.4 quadrat (H25-H32) on Jun. 23, No.5 quadrate (H33-H40) on Jun. 22, No.6 quadrate (H41-H48) on Jun. 23, No,7 quadrate (H49-H56) and No.8 quadrate (H57-H64) on Jun. 23. 1、 Data overview: use solinst leveloger automatic water level gauge to observe river water level, calculate flow data through water level flow curve, and manually observe the flow through self-made flow weir (see thumbnail). Due to the limited amount of manual observation data, further supplementary observation is needed to improve the water level discharge curve. 2、 Data content: we manually observe the water level and flow data of the two sections. The first section: the exit of area III divided by Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the boundary point between cold desert zone and cold meadow zone, where the valley is deep and the bedrock is exposed. Coordinates of observation points (99 ° 53 ′ 37 ″ e, 38 ° 13 ′ 34 ″ n). The observation period is from July 21, 2012 to May 6, 2013. The observation frequency of automatic observation data is 1 time / 30 minutes from July 21 to July 25, 2012. 1 time / 15 minutes from July 25, 2012 to May 6, 2013. After September 15, 2012, there was an error in the automatic monitoring data of the observation point. The reason may be that the flow of the river channel became smaller, the probe was exposed to the air, and the water level gauge could not correctly reflect the change of the flow of the river channel. At the same time, the temperature decreased after September, and the river channel froze in winter. There was no automatic monitoring flow data during this period. The second section: the exit of No.2 area divided by Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with flat terrain, is located at the catchment of the outlet of the alluvial delta Valley, and the south side is the shrub area. A small flow weir is built. The observation point coordinates (99 ° 52 ′ 58 ″ e, 38 ° 14 ′ 36 ″ n), and the observation frequency of automatic observation data is 1 time / 15 minutes. The observation period is from July 21, 2012 to May 6, 2013. After the observation point entered September, the river flow gradually decreased and there was no water in the river. At this time, the reading of water level gauge can not correctly reflect the change of river discharge. At the same time, our field experience shows that from September to May of the next year, the observation point is basically in a state of no water.

The data set includes soil organic carbon concentrations data of representative soil samples collected from July 2012 to August 2013 in the Heihe River Basin. The first soil survey was conducted in 2012. After the representativeness evaluation of collected samples, we conducted an additional sampling in 2013. These samples are representative enough to represent the soil variation in the Heihe River Basin, of which the soil variation in each landscape could be accounted for. The sampling depths in field refer to the sampling specification of Chinese Soil Taxonomy, in which soil samples were taken from genetic soil horizons.

This data set is collected according to the output results of tesim ecological process model, including biomass, plant N and P content, evapotranspiration, NPP and other model output results. Some of the results are obtained by field measurement, some by laboratory analysis of field samples, some by literature.

The data of soil moisture in the Pailougou include the grassland on the shady slope of 2700m above sea level and the Picea crassifolia forest of 2800m above sea level. The soil water content monitoring system EM50 was used to measure the water content in five soil layers, 10cm, 20cm, 30cm, 40cm and 60cm respectively. The in-forest survey period is from June 2012 to September 2012, and there are also data for June 2013. The meadows were measured from June 2013 to October 2013. The measurement results are all volume water content in%.

This dataset contains the LAI measurements from the Sidaoqiao in the downstream of the Heihe integrated observatory network from June 16 to October 18 in 2018. The site was located in Ejina Banner in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The elevation is 870 m. There are 2 observation samples, around Sidaoqiao superstation (101.1374E, 42.0012N) and Mixed forest station (101.1335E, 41.9903N), each of which is about 30m×30m in size. Five sub-canopy nodes and one above-canopy node are arranged in each sample. The LAI data is obtained from LAINet measurements following four steps: (1) the raw data is light quantum (level 0); (2) the daily LAI can be obtained using the software LAInet (level 1); (3) the invalid and null values are screened and using the 7 days moving averaged method to obtain the processed LAI (level 2); (4) for the multi LAINet nodes observation, the averaged LAI of the nodes area is the final LAI (level 3). The released data are the post processed LAI products and stored using *.xls format. For more information, please refer to Liu et al. (2018) (for sites information), Qu et al. Trunk sap flow is an effective tool for measuring transpiration of a single plant. In this project, the trunk sap flow data of Populus euphratica in the lower reaches of Heihe River was measured by HRM (ICT, Australia) with a frequency of 0.5h. In the growth season of 2012-2013, the installation location is the north and lateral roots (50cm underground depth, 30cm away from the trunk) at the DBH (1.3m).

The fixed forest sample plot is located in the drainage ditch of Dayekou, Qilian Mountain, where the hydrological observation field of Gansu Water Conservation Forest Research Institute is located. From July 2003 to August 2003 and from July 2007 to August 2007, the tree survey of the sample plot was completed by technicians from Gansu Water Conservation Forest Research Institute and Institute of environment and Engineering in cold and dry areas of Chinese Academy of Sciences. A total of 17 fixed forest samples were observed, including the survey of sample plot factors and the survey of each tree. The observation factors of sample plots mainly include forest farm, longitude and latitude coordinates, slope direction, slope position, slope, soil thickness, canopy density of arbor layer, leaf area index, etc. The main instruments used in the measurement are tape, DBH, flower pole, tree measuring instrument, compass and fish eye camera. The measurement factors of each tree include DBH, height of tree, height under branch, crown width in cross slope direction, crown width along slope direction, growth status of single tree, etc. For details, please refer to the metadata of "Heihe River Integrated Remote Sensing joint test: fixed sample plot tree survey data set (2003)" and "Heihe River Integrated Remote Sensing joint test: fixed sample plot tree survey data set (2007)". The Lai in this data set is the supplementary measurement data during the joint remote sensing experiment of Heihe River in 2008. That is to say, the supplementary measurement of Lai has been done in these fixed plots. The supplementary observation time of Lai was from June 1 to 13, 2008. 15 of the 17 fixed plots were investigated. Four instruments were used to observe each plot. In addition to the commercial instruments such as hemiview fish eye camera, LAI-2000 and trac, these instruments also use the canopy analysis instrument made by Beijing Normal University. In each 20 m × 20 m plot, trac measures along two parallel routes perpendicular to the direction of sunlight incidence, which can basically represent the entire quadrat; hemiview fisheye camera and LAI-2000 measure the same points, that is, take three points on the trac line, plus the center point of the quadrat, a total of 7 measuring points. This set of data set can provide ground data for the study of remote sensing inversion method of forest structure parameters.

This dataset includes soil moisture and soil temperature observations of 75 BNUNET nodes during the period from May to September 2012 (UTC+8), which is one type of WSN nodes in the Heihe eco-hydrological wireless sensor network (WSN). The BNUNET located in the observation matrix of the HiWATER artificial oasis eco-hydrology experimental area. Each BNUNET node observes the soil temperature at 4 cm, 10 cm and 20 cm depth, and soil moisture at 4 cm depth with 10 minutes interval. This dataset can be used in the estimation of surface hydrothermal variables and their validation, eco-hydrological research, irrigation management and so on. On July 26, 2012, the airborne ground synchronous observation was carried out in the plmr quadrat in the dense observation area of Daman. Plmr (polarimetric L-band multibeam radiometer) is a dual polarized (H / V) L-band microwave radiometer, with a center frequency of 1.413 GHz, a bandwidth of 24 MHz, a resolution of 1 km (relative altitude of 3 km), six beam simultaneous observations, an incidence angle of ± 7 °, ± 21.5 °, ± 38.5 °, and a sensitivity of < 1K. The flight mainly covers the middle reaches of the artificial oasis eco hydrological experimental area. The local synchronous data set can provide the basic ground data set for the development and verification of passive microwave remote sensing soil moisture inversion algorithm. Quadrat and sampling strategy: The observation area is located in the matrix of the dense observation area of Daman, and the detailed plan with an area of 3.0KM × 2.4km is selected to carry out synchronous observation on the underlying surface of oasis. The selection of the sample is mainly based on the representativeness of the surface coverage, accessibility and observation (road consumption) time, so as to obtain the comparison of brightness and temperature with plmr observation. Considering the resolution of plmr observation, 5 splines (east-west distribution) were collected at an interval of 450 m in the east-west direction. Each line has 31 points (north-south direction) at an interval of 100 m, and 5 hydraprobe data acquisition systems (HDAS, reference 2) were used for simultaneous measurement. Measurement content: About 150 points on the quadrat were obtained, each point was observed twice, that is to say, two times were observed at each sampling point, one time was inside the film (marked as a in the data record) and one time was outside the film (marked as B in the data record). As the HDAS system uses pogo portable soil sensor, the soil temperature, soil moisture (volume moisture content), loss tangent, soil conductivity, real part and imaginary part of soil complex dielectric are observed. Because the vegetation in this area has been sampled and observed once every five days, no special vegetation synchronous sampling has been carried out on that day. Data: This data set consists of two parts: soil moisture observation and vegetation observation. The former saves data in vector file format, and the spatial location is the location of each sampling point (WGS84 + UTM 47N). Soil moisture and other measurement information are recorded in attribute file.
