Logistic Regression

  • It is a generalized linear regression analysis model that is commonly used in data mining, automatic disease diagnosis, and economic forecasting. For example, to explore the risk factors that cause diseases and predict the probability of disease occurrence based on the risk factors, etc. Take the analysis of gastric cancer as an example, two groups of people are selected, one is gastric cancer group and the other is non-gastric cancer group, and the two groups must have different physical signs and lifestyles. Therefore, the dependent variable is whether they have gastric cancer or not, and the value is "yes" or "no". The independent variables can include many things, such as age, gender, dietary habits, H. pylori infection, and so on. The independent variables can be either continuous or categorical. Then by logistic regression analysis, the weights of the independent variables can be obtained, so that it can be roughly understood exactly which factors are risk factors for gastric cancer. Also based on that weight the likelihood of a person developing cancer can be predicted based on the risk factors.
